“Scenes from a Hard-boiled Life: Chester B. Himes, a Biography

Join Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Professor Lawrence Jackson as he discusses his new biography of Chester Himes.  The Wall Street Journal calls Chester B. Himes “Harlem’s greatest crime writer” who endured “traumas and travails that other black novelists only imagined.”  The New York Times Book Review says Jackson’s comprehensively researched biography “offers a bracing journey” through an uncompromising life.  Don’t miss engaging this provocative figure.
